She sacrificed everything for their future: decades later, they took her to a place she never dreamed of.

The next day they took her to Benito Juárez International Airport.
Teresa walked slowly, observing everything with amazement.
“Am I really getting on the plane?” he asked nervously.
“You’re not getting on the plane like this,” Marco replied. “Today you’re our guest of honor.”
Once on the plane, before takeoff, Marco took the microphone.
“Ladies and gentlemen, passengers, today we have on board the woman who made it possible for us to be here. Our mother sold everything she owned so we could study aviation. This flight is dedicated to her.”
The cabin fell silent.
Paul continued:
“The bravest woman we know isn't famous or rich. She's a mother who believed in us when we had nothing.”
The passengers began to applaud.
Some were crying.
Teresa was shaking with excitement as the plane took off.
When the wheels left the ground, he closed his eyes.
“I’m flying…” he whispered.
But that wasn't the true destiny her children had prepared for her… What she saw once she got off the plane would change her life forever.
She sold everything so her sons could earn their wings, and twenty years later, they returned in pilot uniform to take her to a place she had never dared to even imagine.
Doña Teresa was fifty-six years old and had become a widow long before she was ready to become one.
Her world revolved around her only two children, Marco and Paolo. They lived on the outskirts of Toluca, in a modest neighborhood where the houses leaned against each other like tired shoulders. Their house had rough walls and a tin roof that shook in storms, built brick by brick with her husband, who worked in construction wherever he could find work.
Then one afternoon everything fell apart.
A structure collapsed where her husband worked. There was no adequate compensation. No swift justice. Just paperwork, condolences, and a silence that seemed heavier than concrete.
From that day on Teresa became both mother and father.
There were no savings. No business. Just the small house and a small plot of land inherited from her husband's family.
Every dawn reminded her of what she had lost.
But it also reminded her of what remained.
Mark and Paul.
