Should you eat eggs with blood spots?

Imagine you’re preparing a delicious omelet for breakfast. You crack an egg… and surprise! A small red blood stain in the yolk or white. Should you panic? Throw it away immediately? Not necessarily. This phenomenon is more common than you might think, yet it remains surrounded by many misconceptions.
In reality,  these blood spots are simply due to the rupture of tiny blood vessels in the hen’s ovary or oviduct . This can happen during egg formation, either when the egg is released or later, during its passage through the oviduct.  Contrary to popular belief, these spots have nothing to do with the fertilization of the egg . They are just a  small natural accident .
Are blood-stained eggs edible?
The good news is that  these spots are completely harmless!  As long as the egg is  fully cooked , it’s safe to eat. These small marks  aren’t a sign of infection or a health issue . If they disgust you,  simply remove the spot with the tip of a knife before cooking .
Be careful though!  If you notice that  the egg white is tinged with pink, red or green , it is best to throw it away.  These unusual colors can indicate the presence of potentially dangerous bacteria .
