For years, certain habits become so ingrained that they cease to be questioned. They become part of the everyday landscape, just another custom within family life. In this story, everything seemed to fit within that logic… until a series of events began to shatter that apparent normality and revealed a truth as unexpected as it was difficult to accept.
For more than three decades, Marta followed an unwavering routine. Every Thursday she left her house for the bank. No matter the conditions, the weather, or the circumstances, that day was marked on her personal calendar. Her husband never questioned it. His trust in her was absolute, built over years of shared life.
After his death, however, that routine began to take on a different meaning. Everything changed when a small blue notebook appeared, carefully hidden among his belongings. On its pages, a repeated entry caught the eye: “Thursday. Bank. Withdrawal.” Week after week, without interruption. What seemed like a simple record quickly became a key clue.
The day of the funeral marked the beginning of the doubts. In the rain, amidst the farewells, something caught the husband's attention. His son, Diego, was behaving in a way that didn't quite fit the situation. At one point, as he wiped away his tears, a glint on his wrist aroused suspicion: an expensive watch that didn't match his financial means.
Hours later, back at home, a dialogue took place that would mark a turning point.
